IFS Therapy in Tampa
Hi, my name is Keri, and I’m an Internal Family Systems Therapist in Florida.
You have some big emotions which at times can be overwhelming. You are feeling stuck, anxious, or depressed and can’t figure out what you need to do to “snap out of it.” You have no idea how to better understand these parts of yourself that are running the show, and not sure where to start.
If you’re ready to start exploring, let’s connect.
What is IFS Therapy (ie Parts Work)
You might have been hearing the term “parts work” being thrown around lately, and for good reason. Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a hands-on, experiential therapy that can help to understand the internal turmoil that you may be experiencing. For example - have you ever noticed that you can feel more than one emotion at the same time? We can think of these emotions as different parts of you - you are still YOU, and you also have different parts that function to protect you from difficult things that you have experienced in this world. The Clients that I see come in for a range of issues - whether you are feeling anxious, depressed, or struggling with food and body related concerns, IFS can help you understand what is going on internally and find a way to move forward and heal.
Internal Family Systems therapy helps you turn inside and truly start to understand your internal experience. It is an extremely gentle and non-pathologizing, meaning that we don’t believe any of your parts are “bad” or need “fixing.” Instead, we get to know these parts and the reasons why they function as they do. During this work you will be guided to help these parts heal, which can lead to feelings relief, reduced stress, and a greater ability to understand anything that comes up for you as you go through your life.
My Approach as an IFS Therapist in Florida
My goal for my clients is to help you process whatever feels most important to you. Together we will:
Unpack everything you have been fed and learned, all in a safe space
Get to you know your individual system and the ways that your past and traumas may be affecting you today
Rediscover the parts of you and your body that you have learned to hate and feel guilt and shame about
Talk about how we are impacted by the society that we live in and what we can do about it
Treat whatever parts that show up with kindness, compassion, and understanding
If you have tried other ways of doing therapy and don’t feel like they really made a difference - IFS therapy might be a good fit for you. As a Level 1 trained therapist, I truly believe in the amazing impact parts work can have on your life. We say that “all parts are welcome,” meaning that we can accept and better understand all of your parts, no matter how they appear. AND we do this in a gentle way that allows you to move at whatever pace feels right for you.
